FAQ - Frequently asked questions

What to Know Before You visit Jack's Cat Cafe

When are you open?

Our doors are open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for one precious hour — from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Please be sure to book in advance, as space is limited and fills up quickly.
And most importantly: please arrive on time! The later you arrive, the less time you'll have to enjoy with the cats. We want you to soak up every moment of purring, playing, and cuddling.

Why is a booking necessary?

Because Jack's is not just a cafe - we're a working cat shelter first and foremost. To keep our cats relaxed and happy, we limit the number of visitors at a time. Booking in advance helps us make sure the space stays calm and cozy, and it allows us to meet you at the front and let you in personally.

Why is there an entrance fee?

To continue our work rescuing and caring for Vietnam's vulnerable cats, we ask for an admission fee of 150,000 VND per person (children under 5 enter free). This contribution gives you access to our cozy cafe and plenty of quality time with our lovely rescue cats - and most importantly, it helps us keep our life-saving work going. Every visit supports a paws-itively good cause!

Why the strict rules?

Because first and foremost, we are an animal shelter - and the wellbeing of our rescue cats is our top priority. While they love your cuddles and company, many of them come from difficult backgrounds and need a calm, safe space to thrive. Our guidelines help ensure a peaceful environment where both cats and visitors can enjoy their time together.

Can we bring our children?

Absolutely! We love welcoming children - they are the animal lovers and protectors of tomorrow. However, to ensure a calm and stress-free environment for our rescue cats, we kindly ask that you include the number of children in your booking. This helps us manage visitor numbers and maintain a peaceful space for both our cats and our guests.

Do you also serve food?

We no longer serve food since moving the shelter to our new premises, as we currently don't have the space or team size to support a kitchen setup. However, we do have a small drink menu! You can enjoy our delicious vegan coconut coffee, refreshing homemade fruit juices, and a variety of hot and cold teas - all served in a peaceful garden setting, surrounded by our rescue cats.

Can I pay by card?

Since we're not a traditional cafe but rather a cat shelter with coffee, we like to keep things as simple as possible - and nothing's simpler than good old-fashioned cash. So please bring some along when you visit.

What if it rains?

Jack's Cat Cafe is usually set up in our lovely garden, but there's no need to cancel your booking if it rains. We'll do our best to prepare a cozy, dry space indoors so you can still enjoy your visit. While the indoor setting may not have the same garden charm, our cats are even more cuddly in rainy weather and will make sure your time with us is special either way!
If you really don't feel like coming because of the weather, just please remember to cancel your booking so we can offer the spot to someone else who's happy to visit rain or shine.

What happens with our profit?

There is no profit - just purpose. 100% of the money earned through the cafe goes directly to our charity, Vietnam Cat Welfare. Every sip, cuddle, and booking helps fund food, medical care, sterilization, rescue operations, and the daily wellbeing of our cats.

Who is Jack?

Jack was our very first rescue - a tiny, scruffy cat who ran up to us one night, meowing for help. We took her in and soon discovered that Jack was not only a she, but pregnant. She gave birth to five kittens who would become the beginning of our rescue journey. Just a few weeks later, Jack tragically disappeared - likely stolen for the meat trade. We were devastated, but her legacy lives on in every cat we save. Jack's Cat Cafe is named in her memory, and everything we do is thanks to what she taught us.
